Focal range on offer is quite impressive with a total zoom 5.5 x zoom. For info, previously Nikon has a popular telephoto lens that is AF-S 55-200mm telephoto lens and the AF-S FX 70-300mm. How does this lens position between the two lenses predecessors, see more my review.

Past: AF-S 55-200mm vs AF-S 70-300mm

Differences AF-S 55-200mm and AF-S 70-300mm is quite clear. In addition to different prices ($249.00 vs. $589.00), both are also different focal range. But remember that the AF-S 55-200mm is a DX lens, while the AF-S 70-300mm is a FX lens. When the 55-200mm lens mounted on DX cameras (like the D40 to D300), the effective focal lens is equivalent to 82.5-300mm that is similar to 70-300mm lens mounted on the camera FX (eg D700 or D3).

The problem is, many users of Nikon DX cameras want to unleash the power of a telephoto zoom more than 200mm, so they ‘forced’ to buy lens 70-300mm just to feel a telephoto capabilities of 300mm (450mm eqiv.). Though the lens AF-S 70-300mm has a long dimension (14 cm) heavy (740 grams) compared with AF-S 55-200mm (10 cm, 330 gram).

Now: AF-S 55-200mm vs AF-S 55-300mm

The presence of lenses Nikon AF-S 55-300mm VR is a solution for those of you who are looking for DX lens with telephoto capabilities of more than 200mm, without the burden when you carry it. Why? Because this lens is only 12cm long and weighs 500 grams, Match between tiny 55-200mm lens, and the long 70-300mm. Secrets behind the relatively small size is the using of High Refractive Index lens element (HRI) is able to keep the overall dimensions of the lens remains compact.
55-300mm lens at a glance it looks not much different from 55-200mm lens, both in terms of design and features. Both are economical telephoto lens that is equipped with SWM and VR features. But both also relatively slow zoom lens (small aperture) not suitable for use in low-light conditions. Unfortunately both put the focus ring on the front of the lens that makes it difficult to manual focus. But do not be disappointed, because those things are normal for this lens as cheap. Now I lay out the special things that should not be found on this inexpensive lens:

Have much as 17 lens elements composed of 11 elements group (2 of them and 1 ED lens lens HRI)

Use VR technology to the generation-II which is claimed to work for up to 4 stops

Use 9 blade diaphragm, f/4.5-5.6 maximum aperture and minimum f/22-29

Use the SWM motor for auto focus fast and smooth

Mount using metal (not plastic)

Examples of differences 200mm and 300mm (source):

In addition to different focal range, another difference between 55-300mm lens with 55-200mm are:

55-300mm f/4.5 maximum aperture or have less than 55-200mm that can open the f / 4 (in this case means 55-200mm is bit superior)

55-300mm use 58mm filter diameter or larger than the diameter 55-200mm 52mm (70-300mm use 67mm filter)

55-300mm mount made ??of metal (55-200mm use plastic mount)

55-300mm does not use Internal Focusing (IF) so that the front element rotates when the lens will look for the focus – CPL filter can not be installed

70-300mm lens has many advantages compared to 55-300mm lenses such as:

FX format – can be used for full frame DSLR

IF system (the front lens element does not rotate)

Better optical quality

Can be manual focus override

SWM motor performance faster

VR mode there is active and normal

So if you really need a telephoto zoom lens that can reach up to 300mm (450mm eqiv.) And no problems with the weight of the lens, my suggestion is the lens AF-S 70-300mm VR. But if you want to buy a lens AF-S 55-200mm but feel the need to range between 200mm to 300mm, and look for lenses lightweight and compact for travel, the lens AF-S 55-300mm is already available on the market.

Of course it is necessary to add some funds because of the price difference AF-S 55-200mm and AF-S 55-300mm is quite striking (<a

There is also a 51-point AF system and has a continuous shooting speed 4 images per second (full resolution FX format). ISO range is still the same as the D700 is starting from ISO 100 to ISO 6400 and can be optimized up to ISO 25 600.

<a

Although labeled as a beginner camera. But if it appears that the specifications are reviewed D3100 has many features such as 11 point auto focus and the ability to accurately record High Definition video resolution of 1920 x 1080 with auto focus. Even the camera shutter unit has passed the test to 100 thousand life times. Wow ..

In terms of the ability of ISO, D3100 impresses with ISO 3200 capability and can be increased to the equivalent of ISO 12800. This means that this camera can be counted on to be used in places with poor lighting. Thing that distinguishes this camera with the more expensive Nikon digital SLR is its burst speed is quite up to 3 pictures per second and a sufficient resolution LCD screen with 230 thousand pixels. The unfortunate thing is Nikon still provides the basic features of the D3100 exposure bracketing. Additionally D3100 also does not provide AF motor so that the old Nikon lenses (non AF-S) can not auto focus. But whatever it is, D3100 regarded as the best DSLR ever made by Nikon.

Canon EOS 1100D<br

Was very positive market response to the presence of Canon EOS 1000D that can benefit from the sale of the 4 digit series cameras. Maybe that’s why Canon have to take 18 months to create a successor of 1000D, plus all the cameras are now more modern and equipped with features HD movie, then this was an urgent upgrade 1000D. And a half years since Nikon D3100 launched, precisely in the month of February 2011 Canon launched the EOS 1100D, then began the war between the two as the best beginner DSLR ever.

Some of the improvements the Canon 1000D is successor wore 12 MP CMOS sensor with DIGIC IV processor. This camera is worth<span

Video recording capabilities have been embedded in the EOS 1100D is, exactly is High Definition resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The other impressive thing is found in this camera is the ability of ISO 6400 and 63 metering zones are sensitive to the focus, color and luminance. Like the other beginner DSLR, 1100D burst speeds only up to 3 pictures per second and its LCD screen resolution is only 230 thousand pixels. Unfortunately until now Canon have not permit four digits EOS to have the spot metering feature.

Which is better?
Not easy to judge which one is better than both. Besides having almost the same specs, they are also sold at almost the same price range. Arguably both balanced especially in terms of:

quality of the images (score of sensors in different dxomark bit)

live view feature

burst speed (3 fps)

LCD screen resolution

specification and type of viewfinder

there are modes to help beginners

But in some ways superior to the Nikon D3100 as:

resolution and sensor size is slightly larger (14 MP vs 12 MP)

more AF points (11 points vs 9 points)

3D tracking AF feature

resolution of HD video (1080p vs 720p) plus an auto focus when recording video

there is a special lever to switch fast mode (continuous shooting, self timer, etc.)

greater flash range (12 m vs. 9 m)

more spacious LCD screen (3 inches vs. 2.7-inch)

While the things that make the EOS 1100D is better:

support for all Canon EF lenses and EF-S (can autofocus)

can bracketing (AE and WB)

The maximum normal ISO ISO 6400 (ISO vs 3200)

there are direct buttons to set the ISO

appear as live view histogram

official accessories are available for battery grip

the battery last longer (700 vs 550 shot shot)

In this case our conclusion is that the Nikon D3100 is slightly superior to the EOS 1100D. Is the key to his victory in the sensor, focus and HD video. EOS 1100D was practically no function is too prominent, but all the basic needs are fulfilled photography coupled with the ability to support auto bracketing and focus on all Canon lenses. So choose which, of course it’s up to you ..

Canon EF 70-300mm Lens

Canon

Lenses

70300mm

Cameras

Canon EF 70-300mm Lens Reviews

F4.55.6

Lens
<guid

Thanks to a new triple-layered diffractive optical element (DO), this 70-300mm lens is less than 4 inches (10 cm) long. It can focus down to 4.6 feet (without rotating the front element) and a new zoom lock button keeps the lens safe and secure when not in use or used at the wide angle. A virtually silent ultra-sonic motor (USM) gives the lens extremely fast autofocus. The lens also includes Canon’s Image Stabilization technology to dramatically reduce camera shake, compensating for approximately three stops in shutter speed without any perceptible increase in image blur. It’s a great choice for professional photojournalists and serious advanced amateurs who need to contain the size and weight of equipment carried.

Use of the new three-layer DO lens drastically reduces the overall length and weight of the lens system increasing the refractive power of each lens element and reducing the spaces between elements. It’s approximately 26 percent shorter and 36 percent lighter than any lens of comparable specifications.

Zoom lock
The EF 70-300mm lens features a zoom ring locking mechanism, locking the lens at its shortest total length. This helps to protect the lens from potential damage by preventing the zoom elements extending under their own weight, which might otherwise occur when the lens is mounted to a camera that hangs from a neck or shoulder strap.

Image Stabilization
The lens incorporates Canon’s Image Stabilization (IS) technology, compensating for approximately three stops without any perceptible increase in image blur when shooting static subjects or panning. This increases the range of circumstances in which hand-held photography is possible, limiting the need to carry a tripod.

Fast AF
A rear focusing ring type USM, high-speed CPU and new AF algorithms combine to give the lens extremely fast auto-focusing. The ring-type ultrasonic motor (USM) converts ultrasonic vibrational energy into rotational force to deliver high-speed, high-precision, super efficient and virtually noiseless auto focusing, with good holding torque for rapid response and accurate stopping. Full-time manual override is featured, removing the possibility of damage to the autofocus mechanism during manual focus. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of just 1.4m throughout the entire zoom range.

Ready for Digital Photography
The lens shape and coatings have been optimized to suppress ghosting and flaring, making this lens ideal for use with digital cameras that are more susceptible to reflections off the recording media than are film cameras.

Working with EOS
The drive pattern of the lens is tailored to specifically match that of the latest EOS range, extracting maximum benefit from the lens’ speed advantage. The lens comes with a case LP1116 and an exclusive hood ET-65B for shading against unwanted direct light.

Press Release

SONY’S NEW ULTRA-RESPONSIVE, COMPACT SYSTEM CAMERA BOASTS WORLD’S FASTEST RELEASE TIME LAG AND QUICK, RESPONSIVE AUTOFOCUS

2nd Generation NEX-5N Produces 16.1 megapixels and Full HD 60p video

SAN DIEGO, Aug. 24, 2011 – Sony adds superb responsiveness, image quality, and creative possibilities to its line of E-mount interchangeable lens cameras with the new α NEX-5N model. Housed in a rugged, light magnesium alloy body, with an intuitive touch-screen interface, the camera is just 23.3mm at its slimmest point.

“The NEX-5N camera extends the sleek, minimalist design of the acclaimed NEX-5,” said Ernesto Bravo, senior business manager of the alpha group at Sony Electronics. “But it’s also a giant step forward from its predecessor in terms of still image and HD video quality, Auto Focus and speed-of-capture performance.”

Response is accelerated even further by a release time lag of approximately 20 milliseconds, the fastest of any interchangeable lens digital camera. Combined with an improved autofocus (AF) algorithm and more efficient image processing, this results in an AF that is significantly faster than the current NEX-5 model.

The camera’s Exmor™ APS HD CMOS sensor with 16.1 effective megapixel resolution is complemented by a specially-optimized version of the powerful BIONZ® image processing engine, resulting in exceptionally clean, low noise images. Maximum sensitivity is also boosted to ISO 25600, the highest among mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras (as of Aug 2011), allowing for very high-quality handheld shooting in low-light conditions.

The NEX-5N camera shoots smooth AVCHD™ Progressive (Ver2.0) Full HD movies with high-quality stereo sound at 60p – the same resolution and frame rate as Blu-ray Disc™ media, a first for interchangeable lens cameras with an APS-C size sensor. Faster readout from the sensor doubles the maximum frame rate to 60 fps and, when shooting at the 24p setting, movies achieve a beautifully expressive, artistic and cinematic feel. Additionally, continuous auto-focus while recording video has been improved and object Tracking Focus has been added, which allows a target object to be selected and tracked accurately via the touch-screen, even when the subject is moving.

Photographers can also fully control exposure with Program, Aperture/Shutter Priority and all-Manual modes (P/A/S/M) – just like the most advanced DSLR cameras. Stereo audio quality is improved, with revised circuitry that lowers wind noise levels, especially when shooting quiet scenes.

The NEX-5N is the first E-mount interchangeable lens camera from Sony that features an intuitive new Photo Creativity Touch interface. Background Defocus, Exposure, Picture Effect and other adjustments can be quickly and easily previewed, applied and combined via the LCD touch panel and control dial, with traditional “photo jargon” simplified for beginner shooters.
In Speed Priority Continuous mode, the NEX-5N captures fast-moving action at up to 10 fps (actual speed depends on shooting conditions and memory card performance), the fastest burst speed of any mirrorless interchangeable lens camera (as of Aug 2011).

Recently introduced on the new NEX-C3, Picture Effects simplifies the production of sophisticated artistic effects ‘in camera’, with no PC or post-processing needed. There are now 11 modes and 15 effects, including new HDR Painting, Soft Focus, Miniature, Rich-Tone Monochrome and Soft High-key. A generous palette of other artistic imaging functions includes 3D Sweep Panorama™ mode, Soft Skin, Auto HDR, Handheld Twilight and Anti Motion Blur Modes.

The camera’s 3-inch Xtra Fine LCD™ display can angle up to 80 degrees up or 45 degrees down for easy viewing in any shooting position. TruBlack™ technology assures superb detail and contrast with dramatically reduced on-screen reflections.

Enhanced by the new Photo Creativity Touch interface, the LCD makes composition, shot review and adjustment of camera settings easier and more flexible than ever.

Lenses and Accessories

The growing choice of E-mount lenses compatible with all α E-mount cameras now includes the new Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* E 24mm F1.8 ZA (SEL24F18Z), E 50mm F1.8 OSS (SEL50F18) and long-awaited Telephoto zoom E 55-210mm F4.5-6.3 OSS (SEL55210).

The world’s first mount adaptor with built-in Translucent Mirror Technology™, the optional LA-EA2 Mount Adaptor allows phase-detection AF with the majority of A-mount lenses for both still image and video shooting. The optional Electronic Viewfinder FDA-EV1S, XGA OLED Tru-Finder™ display offers high resolution/contrast and wide viewing angle. With these two unique accessories, user can adapt their NEX-5N cameras to most any shooting situation and environment.

Also new in the range of accessories, the stylish body case (LCS-EB50) and lens jacket (LCS-EL50) help protect the camera and lens from scratches, the shoulder strap (STP-XS3) fits tightly to the body and the soft carrying case (LCS-EMF) holds the E-mount camera body with attached lens as well as an additional lens or other accessories.

Pricing and Availability

The NEX-5N ultra-compact interchangeable lens digital camera will be available this September in black and silver with an 18-55mm kit zoom lens (model SEL1855) for about $700 and as a body-only for about $600.

The new E-mount Telephoto zoom E 55-210mm F4.5-6.3 OSS (SEL55210) will be available this October for about $350. The new Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* E 24mm F1.8 ZA (SEL24F18Z) and the E 50mm F1.8 OSS (SEL50F18) will each be available this December for about $1000 and $300, respectively.

The new LA-EA2 mount adaptor and FDA-EV1S OLED viewfinder will both be available this November for about $400 and $350, respectively.

The new camera kits, lenses and compatible accessories will all be sold at Sony retail stores (www.store.sony.com) as well as other authorized retailers throughout the Sony dealer network.

For “sneak peak” videos of the new products, please visit www.sony.com/cameravideos.

Related Post :

<a
